Hello! We are Freya and Satia, 7yr old twin sisters from Derby. When we travelled to India in February we saw lots of poor children begging on the streets. Children with no parents, nowhere to live, nothing to eat or drink, nothing but the clothes they were wearing. We asked our Mummy and Daddy how we could help them.
We went to a local charity called Vatsalya, which means affection and motherly love in indian. They help children come off the streets by giving them shelter, food, an education and a place they can live together like a family. We spent a day at Vatsalya with the teachers and children. One of the youngest boys there was 6yrs old and we wanted to know his story. He was found begging on the streets of Mumbai whilst looking after his 3yr old sister. Vatsalya helped him and he now has a happy life with the boys where they live together like a family.
When we came back home we wanted to help Vatsalya and we came up with an idea for raising money with the help of our friends at Derby High School. We organised a Back to Front day and it was a great success as we raised £220! Many of Mummy and Daddy's friends also wanted to support us, so we've set up this page.
Thanks to you we have raised over £2500!!!!

Back to Front non-uniform day raises money for School Uniforms!
Update posted by Harvey Badwal at 08:54 amWe found this really funny! The £220 we raised by having a 'Back to Front' NON uniform day was used to buy..... UNIFORMS! How funny is that! We received a lovely letter and card from Mrs Mukerjee and the children of Vatsalya saying thank you.
