Project Vietnam

Dear those who can help me,

I am an Amerasian. I am born to an American father and a Vietnamese mother.

My mother passed away in 2007 due to cirrhosis of the liver. Her story was a very sad one. She was adopted by a family in Vietnam and was given the name Minh Hoa Nguyen, cut to the Vietnam war and the Fall Of Saigon, she tried to escape by boat with her father and got caught by the communist. Her father was shot right there on the spot and murdered, she was allowed to attend his funeral, then she was sent to a re-education camp for 5 years where she was abused, tortured, and left lifeless.

She left behind a sister in Vietnam named Huynh Mai who I found out is still alive to this day. My mother often talked about wanting to go back to Vietnam so she could see it as something other than a war torn country. She wanted to bring me with her..

My family is financially poor and my siblings are not interested in Vietnam or Asian culture and I would love to use this money that anyone with any kindness could donate to help me, because I would love to honor my mother's last wish by going back on Vietnamese soil and meeting her sister, my aunt,  Huynh Mai for her and my first-cousin Tien. Huynh Mai's only son.

My mother suffered so much in life and she had to make so many sacrifices to ensure that me and my siblings had a good life in America. All I can do is try to ask strangers to help me..I am unable to make enough money as I only have a degree in Medical Assisting.

I have such a heavy burden in my heart and it is my only wish in life to go to Viet Nam and honor my mothers wishes. I need roughly 2,500 for a roundtrip and to pay for food and other accomodations.. the money would not be used for any other selfish purpose..
