In 2013, a good friend of ours was just starting to teach at his local public high school when we had a discussion about what it was like to work in the public sector. He told us that public school teachers were MANUALLY calculating and painstakingly WRITING learners' report cards and other school forms BY HAND. We were also teaching at a local college during that period so we can relate to the dread that comes from writing our own reports. It was evident that the public sector was more stressful and demanding. Our respect to these breed of educators had gone levels further.

That conversation, in some way, had broken our heart. We had family and relatives working in the public academe. Some of our favorite human beings are our teachers in elementary and high school. They were fundamental to our development.

We believe teaching is an art, a performance staged by creative people. Creative individuals are always excited about the act, the performance and yet we bore their souls with piles of paperwork. There is no doubt that paperwork is essential and it truly needs to be done. But it is also a fact that it can diminish enthusiasm and job satisfaction especially in a career whose quality of outcome is decided by one's creative input and mood.

In the first place, teachers are individuals who in many ways are passionate about imparting what they've learned. This is especially evident when their learners demonstrate that they've truly gained something from their instruction. It grants them a special kind of pride unique to their line of work. MANUALLY RECORDING redundant data, CALCULATING and WRITING reports BY HAND were the least things they expected to do when we've chosen their careers.

Why don't we lessen their burden? A lot of non-creative work they do can now be automated. Why not make them smile, event a little! Let them deliver lessons in freer spirits. That way, they might have the energy to increase the quality of their instruction and we might increase the quality of our children's education. Therefore, a better chance in making society a little better than what it was in the past. The benefits are exponential. We cannot fathom how powerful their smiles impact our futures.

PROJECT SMILES have been around since SY 2014-2015 and have been exclusively piloted by Heracleo Casco Memorial National High School, Sta. Maria, Region XI. Until present, they have been automating their calculations and printing their learner's Report Cards, Class Rankings Master Sheets and others.

This initiative will not replace and does not operate in conflict to the Department of Education's LIS but rather complement it in terms of providing the specific unmet needs of classes, teachers, advisers, learners and parents.

Although not yet officially registered, PROJECT SMILES is by nature a not-for-profit initiative. It does not sell School Forms. The school forms generated by this service are always and will forever be FREE.

---

Of course, there are limits to the number of people the service can accommodate . The service is free but the computer servers it is running are highly expensive. It will always rely on the donation of generous supporters to continue.

Our seasoned developers have made it up to beat in standards comparable to modern and popular websites in terms of security and availability. They are far from finish and are currently adding powerful features into the service. They are doing it for free but a little incentive will accelerate their progress as they can give less time looking for other freelancing jobs to focusing work for the service. They are in need of your support too.

This fundraiser is intended to raise for new servers to run this school year 2019-2020 in PROJECT SMILES' OPEN-BETA version (psmiles.org); Hopefully raising the number of supported students from 1.5K to 10K so that more people are able to benefit from PROJECT SMILES.

Thanks. With love,

The Project Smiles Team
