Project Send Sham to Tahoe

Everyone of us has had a big dream, one that calls to your heart and soul, something that if it came true, would stay ingrained in your memories no matter how many years have passed.

How do you chase an audacious dream? Dreams don't work unless you do, but sometimes, you can work your guts out, day and night, every hour you can spare, and you don't mind because it is leading you to fulfillment of that dream. However, sometimes hard work is not enough and the dream may still be unattainable for various reasons.

What does it take to attain that dream? Courage, Perseverance, Trials, Tribulations, Endurance thru obstacles that are bound to come up.

There will always be naysayers, and those who believe in you. The truth is, achieving your dream requires you to have a network of people, who are willing and able to support you in their area of gifting. Some provide wisdom, advice, financial assistance, training, tough love, emotional, mental support, and a common understanding and belief that you deserve to have the chance to reach out and touch that dream.

On behalf of the team that created this crowdfunding project, we would love to introduce Sham.

Sham is an extremely talented, and hardworking Obstacle course race athelete, from Singapore, who has been given the rare opportunity to qualify and participate in the Spartan World Championships. presented by North Lake Tahoe, in California.

His dream, is to be able to reach out and grab this challenge , to experience racing on the greatest obstacle race in the World.

Sham has trained relentlessly, day in and out, always pushing himself to beat his own personal best , challenge his limits , going to the extent of sewing his own sandbags, to carry in his weighted vest while training. He does his training quietly without fanfare, day, night, it doesn't matter.

As a team we are extremely proud of him, and consider him to be family. This means, supporting and believing in his dream.

The only obstacle hindering Sham, is the financial burden of flying from Singapore, to California, accommodation , transport and race entry fees.

Hence, this campaign was created, by his friends and team mates, to raise enough funds to cover these costs. We have kickstarted his campaign by pledging our own funds, and hope you will join us in making a small contribution towards making a loved ones dream come true, because he has put in 101% in his training and deserves this chance. We want to send Sham, without the pressure of coming in top 10, even if he is an Elite Qualifier. We simply want him to have the experience of a lifetime, making his dream within grasp.

The target of our fundraising campaign is $4700 SGD. The breakdown of these costs, are further explained with screenshots of costs from airline ticket and accommodation sites with complete transparency.

Spartan World Championships

29-30 September 2018

North Lake Tahoe, Olympic Valley, California.

We intend for Sham to leave Singapore on Wednesday, 26 September, on United Airlines -> Reno International Airport (closest to lake tahoe).

He will arrive on Wednesday, 26 September at close to midnight, US time. This gives him 2 days to acclimatize and get over the jet lag so that he is at his best on Race day. The day after the event has concluded he will leave on Monday, 1 October and fly back to Singapore.
