23 MILLION PEOPLE IN TANZANIA DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO CLEAN DRINKING WATER
We can do something about that.
Through a global partnership with Outreach Program and the Diocese of Moshi (Moshi, Tanzania), Purify Project has identified several key initiatives critical to the preservation of the most basic necessities of life for the people of Tanzania, Africa – like clean drinking water.
An ongoing problem for school children in Tanzania is stomach illness caused by contaminated drinking water that comes from various sources -- including surface runoff, municipal pipe systems, rainwater harvesting and wells. None of these water sources are filtered or treated in any way. The sickness experienced in the schools is seasonal, coinciding with local rainy seasons. Runoff after a rain event picks up any surface contamination on the ground including pieces of vegetation and human and animal waste.
