PROJECT PHAKAME is an agricultural development initiative between the Institute for Rural and Community Development (“the IRCD”), the Department of Military Veterans and the Mbhashe Local Municipality (“the Municipality”) to provide skills development and training workshops to approximately 50 military veterans, 125 teachers and 125 schools in the Famer Kidz (see www.farmerkidz.co.za) and Garden of Life micro farming programmes.
Our objective is to “empower these military veterans, teachers and scholars with the necessary life skills and business acumen designed to promote positive values, healthy habits and education to solidify strategies, to put in place the necessary processes and facilitate efficient operations for future growth.”
We have seen measurable success and we are now seeking your financial assistance to expand on our Famer Kidz and Garden of Life micro farming programmes to address the needs of the Municipality. The IRCD therefore requires R27,000,000.00 (TWENTY-SEVEN MILLION SOUTH AFRICAN RAND) in funding over a period of 3 years to support this programme that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth and to ensure the successful implementation of PROJECT PHAKAME. Any contribution made will give us the jumpstart we need while we continue to implement our recently developed fund and or strategy.
We believe that our Famer Kidz and Garden of Life micro farming programmes is consistent with the mission and interests of the Municipality and hope that you will find it in your heart and budget to support this programme. If additional information is required to consider our requests, please feel free to contact me on +27 (0)74 077 7251 or Mr. Steven Barnard, the Executive Director for the IRCD on +27 (0)82 651 3456.
We look forward to partnering with you in this exciting venture which we believe will make a huge impact on the lives of the people of Willowvale and the Mbhashe Local Municipality.
