Musicologist and co-director of The Victoria Consort, Thomas Neal has, through his groundbreaking work on the music of Palestrina, transcribed several works, including a whole mass, which probably haven’t been heard since the sixteenth century. To un-earth such major works by this giant of the Renaissance is a remarkable achievement and the word is spreading. The Victoria Consort has been asked to perform these works at the Stour Festival, established by Alfred Deller and now continued by his son Mark, along side already established and famous names in the Early Music world. These newly realised works will be recorded in late 2015 and 2016 with the accompaniment of early instruments and chamber organ. For this ground breaking project, The Victoria Consort will be joined by The English Cornet and Sackbut Ensemble. Www.ecse.co.uk

The context of the disk will be framed by the Gregorian chant as set for a day when this setting of the mass is suitable. The Victoria Consort is unusual in its detailed experience of Gregorian chant performance, as exemplified by its 2015 disc:"Gregorian Chant, a Mass for St Augustine of Canterbury". About The Victoria Consort The Victoria Consort was established in 2008 by students at Kent University and has since grown into one of the finest choral ensembles in the South East. Artists in residence at The newly established Shrine of St Augustine in Ramsgate, Pugin’s abbey, The Victoria consort has performed a wide variety of sacred choral music in both Concert and Liturgical contexts. Invitations then followed to perform in France, notably at St Francois-Xavier in Paris. Singers from the group, although based in Kent, perform in some of the finest choirs (The Tallis Scholars, The Sixteen, Gallicantus, Sospiri, Merton College Choir) ensembles and opera houses in Europe, including Bordeaux Opera, The Royal Opera and Scottish Opera. The Victoria Consort offers four scholarships for young adult singers to help them prepare for onward musical training and professional employment. In 2015 The Victoria Consort released its first CD recording
