Project Khon Kaen 2018

Project Khon Kaen (PKK) is annual service project that serves to aid and improve the standards of health-care in the urban and rural communities in Khon Kaen, Thailand through medical examinations, education and distribution of supplies. Each year, it is organised and led by a group of medical students from the UK and Ireland together with doctors and translators. This year, it will take place between 12-23 August 2018. We will be working with HealthEx International and World Harvest Foundation in Thailand.

Issues we will try to tackle/raise awareness on include dengue, diabetes, drug addiction among parents and various other chronic illnesses among the people. We will be conducting health screenings in 4 schools (Kham Bon, Nong Ben, Nong Thon and Nong ka) with children between the ages of 4 and 15. We hope to incorporate basic health education to school students. We will also be running mobile clinics in the villages and with the help of local doctors, refer the villagers to hospitals if necessary.

Funds raised will primarily be used to setting up the mobile clinics, to buy sufficient medication for a full prescription and to buy medical equipments (thermometers, face masks etc. to donate to schools)
