Hello my name is Todd Black, Creator and CEO of BlackMagicWolf Productions and welcome to Project Guardian, this is a two part project revolving around a comic book and video game called Guardians. They are two separate projects but both have a lot of potential. My goal is to raise enough money to start production on the first issue of the comic book while also helping the video game as we move from the concept stage to the modeling/animation/programming stage. But enough of this you probably want to hear about the projects themselves.
Please check out our site for pictures of our main characters and 3D models of our projects, you'll also have link to our music on the "Links and Contacts" Page
Guardians Comic Book
The comic book is about two heroes who were created by God to protect a city. The heroes Element and Chaos do their duty diligently but as time goes on they start to wonder if there is anything more to lives outside of their mission. These fears are exemplified in the first arc when the first major villain Tempest comes to town and basically destroys all their hard work including almost killing one of them (you'll just have to read to find out which one). They'll have to become more than just Guardians to survive the trials that lie ahead.....
Guardians Video Game
10,000 years ago the universe was in chaos, civil wars, planetary wars, galactic wars, the universe was tearing itself apart and no one was there to stop it. Until 10 mighty heroes arose to stop the madness and bring peace to all, these heroes were the Guardians. They kept the balance in the universe and helped all who needed it. But as all mortals do they died, but before they did they put their incredible power into 10 orbs and scattered them across the universe never to be used unless great evil was coming…
You are the first of the New Guardians along with you best friend Zach you must go to different worlds to find others worthy of being called Guardians. But not all is at it seems, you soon learn that the source of the Guardians power the orbs may be a source of power for evil as well as for good.....
So where is the money going?
To put it simply most of the money will used to produce the first issue of the comic book, between paying an artist for the comic, actually physically creating the comic and distrubting it the cost comes pretty high. I'm doing what I can to make sure that the comic will be successful by distributing it both physically through stores and as a digital comic. I'm also going to attempt to increase the odds of success by selling the digital comic for $1, that way people will hopefully take a chance to read my comic and not feel like they're take a huge risk on a new comic when it's only a dollar to buy it.
The rest of the money will go into helping with the video game project. We have been doing concept art slowly for a while now with a great group of artists and we're starting to begin the modeling stage, after that we'll be doing animation, level design, programming, etc. The money will be used to hire part-time or full-time members when we get to these stages and any other expenses that may come along the way.
What's in it for me?
A lot more than you can imagine, first and foremost these are my characters and my stories, seeing them come to life in the concept art has been amazing, but to see them come to life through a comic book and a video game? That would be life-changing. Also I have high hopes for these projects and I want to see them work not just for me but for everyone who has helped the projects thus far. My hope is that I get to show off the Guardians Comic at C2E2 this year in Chicago which is where i currently reside. I want to show the comic to both writers and artists and get their opinions on how to make the comic the best it can be.
As for the game I've been making the story and characters for a long time and I feel that with the right people we can make something special. A lot of people have put time into this and I want to reward them for all the hard work they've done to get me this far.
And so it begins....
So there you have it. I hope after what you have read here today and seen on the website that you will be inspired to help out. This project is something we've been working on for a while and we hope it succeeds. But whether it does or does I want to thank those who have given us both a look and a chance.
I thank you for your time.
