PROJECT CONNECT2020: Tech Giveaway for Families and Communities in need in the Philippines

PURPOSE:

To connect students who are deprived of the necessities to continue on learning despite the global pandemic, covid-19.

MISSION:

To fund the substantial units of technology and learning kits that will aid a student through the new norm of studying in the form of remote/ online classes (may it be in the form of a) Tablet b) Laptop with a pocket or portable modem), c) printers to students and schools.

VISSION:

To aid the Filipino youth through the ever-changing times of attaining education. Amidst the pandemic numerous numbers of Filipino youth cannot afford the new normal mode of education: Remote and Online Learning. Without the means of stable internet connection and the proper technology such as computers and alike and learning kits for remote and secluded areas of the country.

Our youth is in a vulnerable situation of discontinuing their education and opting to enter the work force due to lack of funding. Millions had already lost their jobs, businesses closed, and livelihoods are rapidly losing footing along with this is the problem of my fellow Filipino, the risk of discontinued education. In 2016 alone there is 3.8 million individuals who are out of school, in 2017 with efforts of the government it was decreased to 3.6 million. This is due to the poverty index of Philippines decreasing about 35200 out of school youth ages 16 – 24, from 3.32 million to 2.97 million in 2017. Among the age group of 6 -11, 12-15 and 15-24 the main reason cited for not attending school are as follows; illness, disability, lack of personal interest, the high cost of education and other financial concerns.

This is the conventional way of learning, the usual face to face learning, classroom and field schooling. But with the growing number of unemployment now, the pressing matters of the situation at hand is significantly alarming that in a matter of a days the country if equipping itself to adapt to the new norms in which many students can no longer afford to cope up. The new normal learning practices such as remote learning, online studying and alike but this new norm will lead to the balloon effect on the numbers of out of school youth.
