Campaign Story
The Covid-19 pandemic has been a tragedy for the human world, but it has also been a crisis for wildlife. Due to unprecedented global lockdowns, conservancies in Africa have been financially ruined as funds have dried up due to the lack of tourism, the largest source of income for conservation and anti-poaching initiatives. Wildlife needs YOUR help more than ever before.
Project C:CHANGE took 12 climbers from around the world up Mt. Kilimanjaro on February 2nd to generate awareness about the illegal wildlife trade and the 6th mass extinction while aiming to raise USD$200,000 in total for wildlife and rainforest protection. Our fundraising efforts were cut short because of the pandemic, so we're relaunching our bid to reach 200,000K USD, which will go towards our partner charities.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the world’s tallest free-standing mountain, with its highest point reaching 19,341 ft. Known as the “Rooftop of Africa,” it is also one of the Seven Summits of the World. It will be a challenging eight-day journey using the Lemosho route to summit Uhuru Peak, battling altitude and five different ecological zones (Cultivation, Rainforest, Heather-Moorland, Alpine Desert, Arctic). The entire trip will be carbon offset and self-funded by the climbers.
This fundraising link is for our Project C:CHANGE projects in HK and the region, including our Walls of Change Street Art festival in 2020, our beach cleanups, our media campaigns on biodiversity loss and the illegal wildlife trade.
