Project BackPack 2012

What we are asking for:
This year we are creating the 2012 Project Backpack. We are hoping to provide backpacks and school supplies to Central Florida children in need. We are asking for community and corporate donations to help these children.

Who Will benefit:
According to recent studies, children are gravely affected by the economic troubles that have affected our country. In Central Florida alone, almost 30% of children live in poverty. By providing backpacks to families in need, we are hoping to alleviate just a little of the financial burden that families are under to provide back to school supplies for their children. The average cost of a backpack is around $20, adding in supplies could run another $30, that's $50 total. Now imagine a family with 3 children, that's $150.00 that they need to come up with in addition to all the other household AND back to school expenses they are responsible for (such as clothes.). It may not sound like much, but to families where every dollar counts, $50 is a water bill, half of a light bill or gas to get to and from work for the 5-day work week. But most importantly, with each child that receives a brand new backpack, we have created the opportunity for them to have a great year at school.

-Backpacks (K-12th grade)
-Lunch Boxes (K-12th grade)

Also Needed:
•            College rule composition books (grades 5 - 12)
•            Pencil boxes (grades K-1)
•            Blunt tipped scissors (grades K-3)
•            Crayons
•            Bottled Glue
•            3 ring binders, various sizes
•            Graph paper, 3 hole punched
•            Colored pencils
•            Colored markers
•            Highlighters
•            Rulers
•            Blue and black pens
•            Pencil sharpeners and #2 pencils
•            Pencil Pouches
•            Sharp pointed school scissors
•            Boxes of "Kleenex" tissues, Baby wipes
•            Gift cards for Wal-Mart/Target (additional supplies & clothing)
