My mother, Ilynn de leon in her 4th year suffers from a rare case disease called Motor Neurone Disease or Ascending Muscle Paralysis. No medicines yet to stop the progression, only painkillers for her 24/7 non-stop pain on both legs. She was admitted last May 25, 2018 to do tracheostomy because her disease’s progression is now affecting her lungs that causes her difficulty in breathing. But upon our 3rd day, she had desaturation and the doctors said that it was cause by the hospital-acquired pneumonia she got. She went ICU for 1week that costs about P100,000/day ($1,1923/day), connected in a mechanical vent, then to Progressive Care unit with Private Duty Nurses that cost P5,000/day ($96/day). Then the doctors asked to send her home ASAP because the bill was P1,000,000 ($19,231) already and she can now be home cared. We were just given 2days to prepare everything for her home care. We rented a small apartment for her, near a brgy ambulance and hospitals in case of emergency which costs P4,500/monthly ($86.5/monthly). She is now connected to a mechanical ventilator, bedridden, quadriplegic and feeds on NGT. Her monthly rate of ventilator costs P47,000/month ($904/month) and oxygen refills for P1,150/day ($22/day). The ventilator requires a private duty nurses shifting for 12hrs cost P3,800/day ($73/day) on our first month and then looked for nurses with lower rates and kind hearts for P2,000/day ($38.5/day). Her supplies cost 50k/month ($962/month) because almost all needs to be disposable from suction catheters to hand gloves, masks, wipes, tissues, etc. She’s not yet stable, still experiencing difficulty in breathing even with ventilator, doctor said we will have a hard time to wean her against the ventilator, and since her case is progressive. Her medicines and milks cost us P2,000/day ($38.5/day). Doctor’s checkup is every 2weeks which costs P3,500/visit ($67/visit) and mobile laboratory (without xray because we can’t travel her to laboratories/hospitals) costs P2,500/2weeks ($48/2weeks). Plus the electric and water bill cost P8,500/monthly ($163.5/monthly).
We need P350,000/monthly ($6,731/monthly) to sustain her medicines and other needs. She’s still fighting. She wants to live more. She still smiles and wiggle shoulders to make us laugh when we say dance.
We believe that God makes miracle and that God will reward all the prayers, kindness and generosity you are giving to Mama and our family. Any amount would be appreciated.
Please help us to make her life longer and please include her in your prayers 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you very much.
