Hey all! For those of you who do not know me my name is Shania. I am a student at Parkland College and will be graduating on May 14th 2015 with my associates degree. I plan on continuing my education at the Savannah College of Art and Design and I have officially been accepted! After my bachelors program I want to work on getting my masters so I can teach young minds the art of photography and its inspirational history! My only dilemma, tuition is costly and books, cameras, equipment, darkroom supplies, etc. are not cheap.

Yes working and saving money is the responsible way of doing things. My problem is having to pay bills, only working part time, and all the while going to school full time. For a while now I have been wanting to upgrade my cameras. At this time I have a Nikon D3100 and a Nikon D5100. My lenses I have are just the kit lenses that come with the cameras, a 50mm, and a 200mm lens. I also have a Nikon F4 film camera that I use more than my digital cameras because lets face it, film rocks! (Fact: my most favorite sound is the sound of advancing film-no lies) My equipment is another story. I have no studio lights, unless you consider a house lamp to be an amble source of light. I understand that a camera is only as good as its photographer and don't get me wrong, I will take any old rusted out Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera and shoot with it any day, but at the stage that I am in having a more advanced camera would be much more beneficial to me.

What am I looking to buy? Lets just take a quick look at what I love to shoot. Well that is pretty much anything really, besides landscapes (I don't know why, I am just no Ansel Adams♥) What I really want to explore more is astrophotography. In my last semester I decided to take an astronomy class and have had some bright ideas of going out in -10 degree weather to shoot startrails and night portraits.

Since most of my work is shot in low light the most ideal camera for me to get is the Nikon D7100. What a beautiful camera. Along with the D7100 I am wanting a more top of the line lens to partner up with this dreamy camera. A wide angle lens would be ideal for astrophotography.

This really is not easy for me. I would never ask for donations but without these things I am not so sure if I can produce high quality work for such an amazing school. I hope you consider donating to my project!

ps. There is a link to my photography page on Facebook if you would like to view more of my work or send a private message.
