Campaign Story
Career Point Solutions SA is a women-led start-up company, founded in February 2020. We provide a wide range of services that support and enhance the employability of graduates and in South Africa. Our primary goal is to ensure that graduates actively seeking employment are visible to the working world, by influencing their career brand upfront to enable them to approach the job search with confidence, consistency, and diligence.
We build a sustainable professional brand that guarantees employability through:
1. Professional CV and cover letter writing
2. Building online visibility and presence
3. Conducting one-on-one coaching sessions
4. Providing data vouchers for job search and submission of online job applications
5. Providing vouchers to purchase professional interview outfits
6. Providing transport vouchers to cover travel to and from the interview meeting
Our team is made up of professionals with expertise in Human Resources, Recruiting, Career Coaching, and Job Search Strategy.
Unemployment is a stark reality in South Africa. Various socio-economic factors contribute to the high rates of unemployment. The prospect of graduate unemployment is daunting for every student once they graduate and attempt to enter the job market. According to Statistics South Africa, the official unemployment rate increased by 1,0 percentage points to 30,1% in Q1: 2020 compared to Q4: 2019. The rate has been persistently high over time with the youth (aged 15–34 years) being the most affected by joblessness
Since inception, we have been regularly receiving CVs from unemployed graduates actively seeking employment. We conducted reviews on all CVs submitted to Career Point Solutions and discovered that at least 94% of the CVs do not make a strong visual impression. Keywords and skills are not sufficiently optimized to communicate career goals, accomplishments, interests, and the unique experience; and are not compatible with the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), which is software that hiring managers use to filter candidates from the application pool.
It is evident that a large portion of unemployed graduates do not take into account that a CV is a basic marketing tool and a brand for employability. Apart from obtaining formal higher educational training, unemployed graduates seem to have a gap in knowledge, resources, capacities, and strategies to build and hone their professional or personal brands for employability
Following a comprehensive evaluation of each graduate’s CV, we recently administered an online survey aimed at examining strategies that can curb graduate unemployment and improve employability. The survey participants were predominantly black graduates between 22 – 34 years of age. This demographic is the most affected by unemployment in South Africa, and cannot personally afford expenses associated with job-seeking including augmenting their professional brand as the gateway to improve their employability. The results depict a tremendous need for support for graduates.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
