£575.00raised of £360.00 goal goal
On the 19th of May (next Tuesday!) we are supporting the FEB Foundation (see http://www.feb-foundation.com/) in running an education and screening programme in the village of Ekon, approximately 5 miles east of Cape Coast.
In this area of Ghana, 30-40% of children under 5 have stunted growth due to chronic malnutrition. Because of the financial issues in the healthcare system at present, treating children with advanced stunting is expensive, with poor outcomes. Preventing malnutrition at an early stage has both social and economic benefits. In Ekon, a fishing village of approximately 5000 people, the over-reliance on fish has meant that many children are being unnecessarily malnourished.
The purpose of the Feb Foundation's programme is a.) to educate both children and parents over how to prevent this from happening and b.) to perform screening of all the children in the village, looking for evidence of malnutrition.
The budget for the event is approximately £360. This includes administration fees, water, food, and transport for the team going, along with finances to help fund any treatment needed.
If we are not able to raise enough money, the programme will have to be cancelled. So please give what you can to help run this great event!
