Pressing need for School Building – 500 donators needed

Szabad Waldorf Gimnázium (Free Waldorf Secondary School, Budapest, Hungary) is one of the latest additions to the worldwide movement of Waldorf Schools based on the educational philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. The first Waldorf school was founded in Germany 103 years ago in 1919. Ours was founded in 2018.

Together with our founding primary schools, it is our mission to help our students move along the entire Waldorf cycle (from their kindergarten years to their graduation at the age of 19), and thus promote personal growth. They will become free human beings who find their way and place in the world, and who can live in harmony with themselves as well as with their immediate and wider natural and social environment.

We started our educational mission on the premises of one of our founding primary schools, but when it proved to be too small to house all the children at the end of the second year, we had to look for alternative solutions. Our secondary school moved to a container building in September 2020 after long months of preparation, hard work and sacrifices from our community, parents, teachers and children alike. This new building serves as an educational and inspirational place to study and teach, and we are also focusing on further development.

We have entered a 3-year lease plan to purchase the container school and use it as a place of study and in the future as an asset to move onto a permanent school building. Our community can pay two-thirds of the costs over the next 2 years. For the remaining part, we are reaching out to our friends and supporters in the world to help us.
