Preserving Costa Rica’s Surfing Heritage

Cundino’s house represents the birth place of surfing in Costa Rica. Because of his age and financial situation is very hard for him to up keep the place. This is one more effort to preserve it, as we did in 2011, 2013 and 2018. As a regular visitor I have noticed the constant erosion of the ocean on the wall. This effort will probably never be over because of the house’s location, which borders the river. The importance of this house is such that represents the first steps and humble beginnings of the sport of surfing in Costa Rica . This place is very unique because it serves both local and international surfing communities.
“ you just never know who is going to show up to surf this prestigious wave” Unlike to many surfing locations in Costa Rica , Boca Barranca needs to be led by the hand into the future. In the past we have helped Cundino with his house this time we are looking forward to preserve both Cundino’s well-being as much as the property itself .

We are looking with much enthusiasm as Boca Barranca navigates into its 5th decade of producing newer generations of local surfers. All this in great faith for a better cummunity. We will recognize the preservation of the sport in this area as a chance to improve the life of our youth and we thank you for your donations.
