Preserve Costa Rica Rain Forest – compensating your CO2 footprint.

Last year, Anett and I (Francisco) received as an inheritance a completely preserved piece of land located on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. This land is 119 hectares and has been in our family for more than three generations. We made the decision to pack our bags, machetes in hand and spent more than 7 hours walking through trails inside the land. And we discovered a huge treasure; a mountain full of 100% preserved rain forest, crystal clear rivers, natural water springs and lots of species in danger of extinction. Watch the drone video!

We are worried about the environment and the future. We are starting this campaign to be able to keep this land protected, avoid loggers and illegal hunters to invade it and affect the delicate ecosystem. This requires commitment from us, showing local presence, making several visits a year including the proper equipment and with the help of our drone inspect the 119 hec looking for any invaders activity.

We absolutely do not want to touch the land, sell it, or cut the trees to get any profit. Our goal is to protect it, keep it as, and preserve the ecosystem in the zone. We have applied to Costa Rica's Environmental Forest Protection plan but our chances of joining the program are low because the government's budget has been reduced by 80% this year and this is a significant roadblock for us to protect the land properly.

Ayuda a salvar este bosque!

El año pasado, Anett y yo (Francisco) recibimos como herencia un terreno completamente conservado ubicado en la costa caribeña de Costa Rica. Esta tierra tiene 119 hectáreas y ha estado en nuestra familia por más de tres generaciones. Tomamos la decisión de hacer las maletas, machete en mano y pasamos más de 7 horas caminando por senderos dentro de la tierra. Descubrimos un enorme tesoro; una montaña llena de selva tropical 100% preservada, ríos cristalinos, manantiales de agua natural y muchas especies en peligro de extinción. ¡Mira el video tomado con el dron!

Nos preocupa el medio ambiente y el futuro de esta zona porque otras tierras de los alrededores ya están destruidas. Estamos iniciando esta campaña para poder mantener esta tierra protegida, evitar que madereros y cazadores ilegales la invadan y afecten el delicado ecosistema. Esto requiere de nuestro compromiso, mostrando presencia local, realizando varias visitas al año incluyendo el equipo adecuado y con la ayuda de nuestro dron inspeccionar las 119 hec en busca de actividad invasora.

No queremos en absoluto tocar la tierra, venderla o cortar los árboles para obtener ganancias. Nuestro objetivo es protegerla, mantenerla y preservar el ecosistema de la zona. Hemos aplicado al plan de Protección Ambiental Forestal de Costa Rica, pero nuestras posibilidades de unirnos al programa son bajas porque el presupuesto del gobierno se ha reducido en un 80% este año y este es un obstáculo importante para proteger la tierra adecuadamente.

Letztes Jahr haben Anett und ich (Francisco) ein vollständig erhaltenes Stück Land an der Karibikküste Costa Ricas als Erbe erhalten. Dieses Land ist 119 Hektar groß und seit mehr als drei Generationen in Familienbesitz. Wir beschlossen, unsere Taschen und Macheten in die Hand zu nehmen und gingen mehr als 7 Stunden lang durch Pfade im Land. Und wir entdeckten einen riesigen Schatz; Ein Berg voller 100% erhaltener Regenwälder, kristallklarer Flüsse, natürlicher Wasserquellen und vieler Arten, die vom Aussterben bedroht sind. Tavaly Anett és én (Francisco) örökségként kaptunk egy teljesen megőrzött földterületet, amely Costa Rica karibi partvidékén található.
