I’m Lorna and I’m expecting a bundle of joy mid-March. It’s my first baby and I’m really excited. My pregnancy however has not been smooth sailing. My gynae told me that I am experiencing a low lying placenta and because of this, I’m unable to deliver normally and there’s a high chance of me bleeding.
On top of that, it doesn’t help that due to COVID-19 and the fact that I recently joined a new company, I am not eligible for paid maternity leave in the current company I’m working at (according to Singapore law, I need to be working at a company at least 90 days before the birth of my child and I only joined the company after).
Knowing that I’ve been asked to do an elective c section instead of a normal delivery, there’s only so much in my savings to offset the cost of the c section charges and medical fees. I’ll be grateful for any form of financial assistance at this point.
I will only take what is necessary from these funds to pay for my medical bills and the rest will go to an animal welfare NGO.
