Campaign Story
Hurricane Maria is the single most catastrophic atmospheric event in Puerto Rico's history. The US territory of Puerto Rico is an island already struggling from economic hardships and trying to recover from hurricane Irma a few week ago. The entire island lost power during Hurricane Maria and it will be months and perhaps years before the power infrastructure can recover.
When Irma decimated the neighboring islands, the people and government of Puerto Rico, where Irma caused less damage, came to the rescue and provided support and housing for those in need. Now Puerto Ricans need help.
The funds collected through this site will go to organizations that will face excess demand for their services in the weeks and months to come, and will be key to recovery efforts. You can also donate directly to these organizations if you'd rather do that. They are: Vive Boriken, Casa Pueblo, Taller Salud, and Boys and Girls Club Loiza. We will post updates on money transfers weekly.
Thank you for your support, the people of Puerto Rico say: "muchisimas gracias".
