Hi, my name is Aneska Coetzee, and my passion is flying.

In October of 2017, I enrolled at the Loutzavia flight school located at the Wonderboom Airport in Gauteng, South Africa. It was the most exciting day of my life.

It took me no less than the first few minutes of flying to realise that this is what I will be doing for the rest of my life. I loved it.

On the 26th of August 2018 (2 days before my 18th birthday), I went Solo! Which means that I started up the engine by myself, flew the aircraft in a pattern we call a circuit, and landed safely, all by myself. No instructor beside me. It was the best date I ever had. Just me, and the aircraft.

I started with my exams in February of 2018, and as of now I only have one more to write. Which is exciting, considering that means I am so close to obtaining my PPL (Private Pilot's License). Which is just the first step of my career.

So let me explain the details.

AVGAS - the fuel for aeroplanes, specifically an Octane rating of 100 and Low Lead - is very, very expensive.

To fly an hour, it costs me R2 300 ($160) and for a Solo flight it's R1 920 ($132). To obtain my PPL, I need a minimum of 45 Hours. But most students take about 60-70 hours to properly learn how to fly. (70 x R2 300 = R161 000)

You can probably see why I need some help?

And this is where my situation is at right now. I have 38 total hours to my name.

I need about R55 000 more to finish, but anything will help towards my training.

When I started my training, I had a budget of R110 000 ($7 600) (Because that's what 45 hours were supposed to cost), with flexibility for any exams I might have had to re-write (Which I did)

This was not enough.

After my PPL I have to do my Night Rating, CPL (Commercial Pilot's License) + Instructors Rating and then finally my ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot's License).

Any further support on this is greatly appreciated.

If anyone knows of a company which provides bursaries and/or sponsorships for pilots, please send me an email.

I appreciate any and every bit of support that I have/can receive.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

-Aneska
