Campaign Story
This December, in the spirit of Christmas, POWIIS’s Leo Club has decided to give back to our community and help raise money for two very worthy causes - Penang General Hospital and St. Nicholas’ Home. 100% of the proceeds will go on to help provide PPE for the medical staff working at Penang General Hospital, and also into keeping St. Nicholas’ Home alive, keeping a safe space for the blind and visually impaired in our Penang community. We believe in the importance of spreading a positive impact in our community, and especially during these difficult times, our help is crucial in supporting those in need.
Penang General Hospital
For the medical staff in Penang General Hospital, who are in daily contact with patients of COVID-19, personal protection equipment ( PPE ) is hugely important to make sure they stay safe. They rely on PPE every single day to protect themselves and their patients from the spread of germs and diseases, namely the coronavirus. Currently, the medical staff who are working tirelessly amid the pandemic are low on PPE stock, putting themselves and their patients at risk. Through this round of donations, POWIIS aims to provide 850 kits of PPE.
One gown of PPE costs RM7.50 - this means that even a small donation can mean that the doctors and patients stay safe for one more visit.
We believe that health is the topmost priority, and your donation is needed to ensure more people stay safe.
St Nicholas' Home
St Nicholas’ Home is a well known part of our community, having served the blind and visually impaired for over 90 years. As it is a non profit organisation, it relies solely on donations from the public to keep it afloat. For years, it has provided education, training and employment opportunities to the visually impaired, empowering them and giving them the self-confidence and skills to fully integrate themselves into Malaysian society. Amidst the pandemic, their donations have dwindled, and they are struggling to pay their operating expenses and their staff’s salary.
In this season of giving, we hope to support their cause and make sure that this safe space stays open a little longer. Your donation is key in making that happen.
