Campaign Story
Our 12U Potter's Pirates Gold youth baseball team is raising money to participate in a week-long tournament in Cooperstown, NY at the end of this summer. Cooperstown is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences. For a team that's built a little differently than traditional youth ball teams.
POTTER BASEBALL
Respect. Hard work. Selflessness. Passion.
These four character traits define the Potter Baseball organization, built to offer a different way to play and teach youth baseball. Winning isn't everything. Instead, the focus is on life's lessons and giving back to the community. Created by Jeff Potter -- author, coach and former player -- Potter Baseball is developing young ball players and young men.
COOPERSTOWN
In August, the 12U team will travel to Cooperstown, NY -- home of the Baseball Hall of Fame -- for a week-long baseball tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The tournament lines up 104 teams from across the country and around the world.
While there, our team will:
- Participate in Opening Ceremonies
- Compete in individual and team competitions
- Sleep in a bunk house with teammates
- Participate in a Closing Ceremony with a custom Youth Hall of Fame ring
- Bring home a lifetime of memories
It's an intense experience. The boys have strict standards and schedules to follow. Meals, laundry, play time and rest are coordinated across the teams and venues. Games are played nearly every day -- even postponed until night when day games get rained out. And...two of the games will be televised via the Internet, for family and friends who can't be there in person.
When asked about the experience, one former Cooperstown player said, "Go if you can! It's less about what you learn on the field. It's really about what you learn off the field."
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
The team must pay for special uniforms, umpires, room and board, laundry services and so much more. Every contribution lends support to the team and helps to defray the costs to players/families for this unique week.
