Postgraduate Tuition Fees

I would like to give a huge thanks to you for taking your time to look at my campaign, it really means alot to me.

Now let me start by introducing myself.

My name is Darvindran, a recent graduate student from Malaysia majoring in Biotechnology with expected graduation this October. I have recently attended an interview for a research assistantship opening to work with malaria at the same university where I have studied my undergrad (Universiti Malaysia Sarawak). I was more then delighted when I found out that I was chosen to take up the post under the supervision of one of the leading researchers (Dr. Angela Siner) at the Malaria Research Centre. At the same, I will be able to undertake a Masters degree (MSc) along with the project I will be working on. During my senior year, I always had a keen interest in working in the field of epidemiology since I was working on melioidosis during my final year project. Taking up the postgraduate opportunity with the Malaria Research Centre would be a perfect platform for me to pave a career path in this niche field of medical health as the malaria epidemic poses a threat to the local communities here in Sarawak. I would like to give as much as I can back to the community in terms of better treatment and clinical management of malaria.

As such, I would need to pay tuition fees which is around RM2151 (USD514) for the upcoming semester. This is a huge amount for me to bear as both of my parents are pensioners. This would be a huge challenge for me as I won't be able to register as a student unless I have paid my fees. I hope through GoGetFunding, I will be able to achieve my goal of raising enough money to pay for my tuition fees. I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do by asking random strangers for money but I have come to the point where I'm not really sure of what to do anymore. Both of parents are unable to help me as they have to look after themselves at the moment with the pension that was given. It's even harder as my dad has been a dialysis patient for the past 10 years. Being financially unstable was always a dim light in our family, but through education I believe I'm able to take them out of poverty in the next few years.
