My name is Lungile Chili, a young and driven South African female. I hold a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Food Science and Nutrition. I recently received an offer to study towards a Masters in Food Science and Nutrition, from a prestigious university in England, course beginning in September 2017. Before I can accept an offer I need to ensure that I can meet the financial requirements.
Undertaking postgraduate master’s studies at a world class, high ranked university would be both a privilege and an honour. I anticipate a learning environment that is different from what I am accustomed to, in which I will be exposed to state of the art research facilities and being taught by highly renowned professionals. In addition to receiving world class quality education, I also look forward to the cultural and social exchange that will take place. It would be a wonderful opportunity to learn about different cultures and give others insight on my own culture and its practices, and build boundless relationships.
In South Africa there is a lack of conclusive research in nutrition and food science related studies. Putting South Africa on the map and creating awareness of the problems we face, particularly issues of malnutrition and extreme poverty, is a cause that is dear to my heart. I strongly desire to liaise with the university in its professional capacity, to integrate knowledge and gather possible strategies and practices that could be implemented to help alleviate food insecurity and malnutrition.
I appeal to corporate bodies and independent funders to help bring my dream to manifestation by making a pledge. The funds will assist in academic fees and accommodation. Thank you and God bless.
