A sea mishap between Iloilo and Guimaras broke news in the afternoon of August 3, 2019. Three boats capsized due to strong winds and as of 6pm on August 4, 31 passengers have been reported dead. Some families have lost 3 members, others up to 9 members.
In a tragedy so fatal and so sudden, losing a life may not only be emotionally and physically draining, but the expenses are a burden not many can afford. We can only imagine how much more burdensome it is when we are talking about losing more than one family member.
My friend, Ai, and I wanted to donate some amount to help the victims but didn’t find a platform for such, and so we decided to start this campaign.
We have contacted some of the families and so far, have gathered contacts of the following victims:
- Alma, Danilyn
- Baguio, Angelina
- Baguio, Dannielle
- Baguio, Jay Arvien
- Baguio, Romeo Sr.
- Baguio, Romeo Jr.
- Baguio, Romnel
- Janson, Czar
- Janson, Janea
- Salanatin, Jhen Lloyd
- Salanatin, Jeron Mars
- Lola Salanatin
Our goal is to help all 31 passengers and with God’s grace, extend ₱50,000/victim to the family/ies of the bereaved. Should we not reach the goal by August 15, we will divide the funds among those we have contact with. If you are a family member of one of the 31 victims and do not find your loved one’s name on the list, please message us. We’d like to reach out.
Concerned friends, help us help the families and ease their financial burden. Your few bucks will go a long way in this time of grief and sorrow.
