Hello, my name is Anna. I have always been involved in Classical Music and it has been my passion since the age of 9. I studied Music up to A level (age 18) but was offered a place to read Modern Languages at Oxford which was too good to refuse, so I ended up not going to music school or conservatoire. My linguistic abilities have however enabled me to sing in German, French and Italian with ease. I also have grade 8 violin and grade 7 piano which I think is also an advantage.
Now I would love to fulfill my dream of going to conservatoire and achieving a post-graduate qualification in singing. This would enable me to launch a singing career, or if I'm not one of the lucky few, then I could teach singing which I am also passionate about. It can be very expensive to get enough experience - accompanist fees, recital venues, masterclasses, competitions, music festivals - you name it, it costs money!
My voice is a light mezzo-soprano. The unusual "flat-line near vibrato-less tone" has been likened by a respected opera historian to the "great divas of the past" and I am committed to studying the correct technical principles of bel canto and achieving a similar level of focus and control. At the moment, my focus is on the baroque and Mozart repertoire as well as Lieder - in particular, Fauré, Schumann and Schubert. I am currently preparing for a recital in April 2012.
Life gets in the way of our dreams sometimes though and at the moment, I can't afford to give up work, pay tuition fees etc. I also have a wedding to finance (see my other project!). This is where you come in! If everyone in England donated £1 my dreams would come true, any amount would be gratefully appreciated. I think this site is awesome and I will also be donating small amounts to fund other people's big ideas too, that way we can all help each other :)
