According to recent data, 60% of adopted animals during the COVID pandemic are making their way back to the streets just as people got bored of them after the lockdown is over. It is estimated 20.000+ animals are currently roaming the streets of Hungary and 100.000+ in Europe alone. A group of investors have launched the non-profit initiative called "You are not an object" in May 2020 in Budapest, Hungary and are aiming to finance shelters and new employees hired for all the abandoned animals in the POST-COVID Europe and hopefully beyond. As unemployment grows the remaining animals will eventually be set free of people unable to feed their pets. A major reason of pets being unvaccinated is the rising price of animal treatments. This non-profit foundation is aiming to help out with the finances of vaccines and emergency treatments not covered by insurance companies, whom many have eliminated pets coverage during the pandemic.
Our aim is to start with 20.000 USD on July 1st, from which 10.000 USD is already in place in by 4 private investors. From July to September the foundation is aiming to visit all 19 counties and 99 animal shelters and organizations with an average donation of 155 USD which can feed 50+ animals for a week and offer free help with administration, tax payments, sanitization, local representation in social media and promoting animal rights.
