Ponderosa Sweethearts

In the brisk fall of 2014 in downtown Oslo, a group of girls from the city’s music scene grabbed their cowboy boots and – unknowingly to the audience – entered a stage and begun performing several line dances. This at a music festival created to celebrate Oslo’s country bar, Bonanza. The line-up was packing 18 of Oslo’s greatest rock bands, all but two of the musicians were male. With their demanding energy and colorful western outfits, the girls danced their boots hot. And the response was dropping jaws and rumbling cheers. Ponderosa Sweethearts was born, and the girls didn’t even know it yet. Since then, the show group has been booked to warm up for bands and to dance with bands on stage. They get hired to entertain at parties, festivals and events. They also throw western parties and regularly teach line dance classes. Ponderosa Sweethearts are now a known and loved show group who bring smiles to people’s faces, encourages people to partake in line dancing and who inspire the love for country music. Even Emmylou Harris’ guitarist is a fan. Today the group consists of 10 lovable cowgirls and a handsome cowboy, all who are eager to continue this journey! They would love to raise money for uniforms, traveling and other necessities needed to move forward and continue to inspire the love of country music and line dancing.
