Around 120 to 180 children with developmental risks are born in northern Croatia every year. How come there are so many children with developmental disabilities today?

Today we have more knowledge about developmental disorders. We know which therapeutic approach to use for a specific disorder. In Međimurje County, an average of 1,200 children are born, of which 10-15%, are children with developmental risks.

Early Childhood Intervention Center MURID in Međimurje County has been working for eleven years to promote the well-being of children in the field of early development, especially children with developmental disabilities.

The Early Childhood Intervention Center MURID provides professional support to children of an early age, their parents and families. The work of MURID is well recognized at the national level and we are the only licensed provider of early intervention services in northwestern Croatia.

The Center employs 20 people:

- 11 Early Childhood Intervention Specialist,

- 2 Assistants,

- 2 Professional Associates in Early Childhood Intervention

Our services use 130 children per week and we provide around 180 services per week.

"We are facing a large rush and need for early intervention services in Croatia and that is why MURID in Međimurje County and northern Croatia is working on a national strategy for the development of early intervention. We are recognized as a county example of good practice in this segment. ", explained the director of MURID, Silvija Pucko, adding that since the first day, MURID has been operating as a professional association that gathers professional staff and is an extension of healthcare.
