This year I have decided to take a gap year between university and high school to decide what part of environmental science I am passionate about. When I discovered the turtle conservation project I knew it was perfect fo me. This project has multiple missions but the overall focus to to conserve the turtle population in Costa Rica. Some tasks include helping the release of hatching eggs into the ocean, building hatcheries, patrolling beaches for poachers and aiding turtles in the breeding process. This project has an amazing mission to regain turtle populations, to what they should've been, had they not been affected by human affairs. This is an amazing opportunity to help replenish natural ecosystems and turtle populations, as well as creating awareness world wide. Turtle's are only one example of animals suffering from plastic pollution and ocean acidification, there are thousands more but I would love to help in at least one area where ocean life is changing. My goal is to work on this project in April of 2020 so that I can learn first hand what it means to be an international volunteer. I hope that I can help the teams complete their long term goals as well as starting new ones that future volunteers can finish. I have been working hard to raise the money I need to attend this mission but it looks like I'll be needing even more help! I am hoping to raise as much as I can so that I will be able to learn the culture in Costa Rica while working alongside other amazing volunteers from IVHQ. Thank you so much in advance for any donations to this campaign!
