DUE TO HIGH FEES AT PAYPAL, BANK TRANSFER, CASH OR CHEQUE IS STRONGLY PREFERRED AS MORE OF YOUR DOLLARS WILL BE APPLIED TO THE REBUILD.

ALSO NOTE THAT PAYPAL HAS A LOW LIMIT ON WHAT CAN BE CONTRIBUTED VIA THIS MEANS.

As many of you know, our beloved Ming Kee restaurant on Po Toi Island was largely destroyed by Typhoon Mangkhut on September 16th 2018. For many Hong Kong residents, Ming Kee is an institution and the thought of it being no more is very painful.

Luckily for us, Sylvia, Florence, Doris and the family have decided to rebuild the restaurant and work has already begun in earnest. They are building a much more robust structure for the upper part of the restaurant. This should withstand future typhoons but will come at a cost.

Many people who love this spot have indicated a desire and willingness to make contributions to help the family rebuild and keep our favourite eating place alive and operating.

A group of Ming Kee regulars has pooled together and set up this crowdfunding account in order to contribute to the cost of the rebuild.

This appeal is being sent to all regulars of Ming Kee and any lovers of old Hong Kong with the hope of helping relieve the financial burden of the rebuild on the family.

Donations of HK$5K to HK$15K will be recorded as Silver Sponsors on a plaque to be displayed at Ming Kee, with donations over HK$15k recorded as Gold Sponsors.

Please also feel free to forward to anyone you think may be interested in chipping in.

The target of HK$1.3m is the current estimated cost of the rebuild*. Any funds collected exceeding the build cost will go to charity.

The funds you send will go into an escrow account held at a law firm, and will be dispensed following reviews by Chris Howse (partner of law firm) and a small committee of participants.
