I write on behalf of the Benedictine Monks of Pluscarden Abbey, Elgin. I was approached with their request for my assistance. I have been tasked with finding financial support, as well as pilgrim's to take part and various essentials they need for their up and coming Pilgrimage from, Abbaye du Val-des- Choux Burgundy, to Pluscarden Abbey, Elgin Morayshire The Pilgrimage begins walking on the 5th of June and returns to the Abbey on the 2nd of September 2017

As someone who had never visited the Abbey, I was touched by the peace and calmness that being there brought to me. Speaking to the Monks and finding out more about their life and work, made me decided to do what ever I could to help with this project. In April I organised a classical concert, which was held in the RC Cathedral which raised funds for the project. But now I realise that without the help and kindness of others this project will take a great many years to achieve.

This Pilgrimage is in aid of the restoration of the south range of Pluscarden Abbey, part of which will be built accommodation for women, as well as those who attend the retreat with their carers. The aim, as well as raising funds for the final phase is to establish a new and major Pilgrimage route along the lines of the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This will be consolidated by the production of a book on the completion of the Pilgrimage and acknowledgement on any subsequent documentary. The Abbey is a place of retreat for men and women, no matter their faith, or indeed for those who have not yet found faith, it is open to all without charge.

I write to ask if you would be willing to offer a donation to allow this project to become a reality? I am not of the Catholic faith, I am however a Christian and I see the importance of this project and the work of the Benedictine Monks. As well as the religious aspect, I see Pluscarden Abbey as part of our history to be preserved for the future generations, the Abbey was founded in 1230 by King Alexander II of Scotland

The Patrons of the Pluscarden 1230 Pilgrimage are, HRH Princess Michel of Kent, Rory Stewart OBE, Harry Bucknall, Alice Carter.

The South Range Patons are The Most Reverend Archbishop Mario Conti. The Dowager Countess Cawdor, Sir James MacMillan CBE, the Lord Shinkwin, the Reverend Professor Iain Torrance OStJ, Bishop Richard Moth, Professor Peter Reid.

I do hope you will look favourably on my request, on behalf of the Benedictine Monks of Pluscarden Abbey.

Why not check out their website, maybe visit the Abbey you will be made most welcome, no matter what your faith
