What! There isn’t enough Foster Homes?

We are the Caston family, Melynda, Kaylyn and Ambrose, and we are trying to open our home to foster children in the area. I have raised and worked with children for over twenty years, as a single parent for most of that time, and successfully launched two of my four children.

As a family we have decided to open our home and hearts to children who just need someone to love them and give them a stable, safe home and let them be kids again, growing our family in the process. Placing kids with families is important, not just for their short-term well-being. When children have a safe, solid home for them to grow up in their chances for success in life multiply.

With foster care, whether short-term or long, a good placement can stabilize a child’s life, help them to build resources to help them in life as well as help to put a family back together. Our current home is too small to allow us the opportunity to help children in need. I have currently exhausted all my available resources to be able to get a deposit for a new home and to move.

We want to thank everyone for helping us to help the foster children in our area. Without your help we wouldn’t be able to open our home to children in need. A record number of Montana Children need a safe home, but there's a shortage of foster families. There are about 3000 foster children in the state but only 1500 of licensed foster homes. Only one thing holds us back, it is the size of our home. A new home, here in the area, will allow us to not only take in one child but sibling groups.
