Dear Family and Friends,

If you believe every woman deserves a life of independence, please contribute to the Parvati and Jyoti Pariyar education fund.

ANY DONATION WILL HELP—NO MATTER HOW BIG OR HOW SMALL!

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet these brilliant young women, the younger sisters of my boyfriend, Ganesh Pariyar. Visiting their home in Kohima, Nagaland, India, it was evident right away that the two bright minds were well respected by their peers for their hard-working qualities and I have no doubt they will be very successful women. With your support, the two can comfortably complete their studies.

Both young women graduated with exceptional grades and hold a deep desire to continue their education so they can blossom into independent women in an otherwise traditional society.

Due to financial reasons, it is not possible for their family to afford the full amount tuition plus materials and living expenses at this time for the duration of a 3 year university degree. In addition, there is a lack of government support to go to college (unlike financial aid options in the U.S.).

Please read more about these brilliant young ladies below:

Parvati Pariyar, age 19, graduated at the top of her high school class (Baptist Higher Secondary School) in May 2014. Unfortunately, Parvati had to take a gap year from her studies so she is eagerly waiting to continue her education to study biotechnology. The brilliant, hard-working student dreams of one day becoming a doctor in order to heal others. The only thing she loves more than learning is teaching and helping others. For the past three years, Parvati has tutored students in all subjects, ranging in ages from five to twenty years old. In her free time, she reads and studies physics and other science materials. In June, Parvati will begin her Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology at DMK Women’s College (Vellore,Tamil Nadu, India).

Jyoti, 17 years old, recently graduated second division from Baptist Higher Secondary School (May 2016). She dreams of becoming a nurse and will pursue a Bachelor of Science in Food Sciences and Nutrition at the same college. Together, the two young women tutor more than 20 high school students and have used their earnings to support their family and school expenses.

I am asking that all of you support the education of my sisters by donating any amount you can towards their college tuition fund. Parvati and Jyoti are very intelligent young women that are passionate about continuing their education. We all know what it is like to struggle but imagine having a deep desire to learn but no funds to do so. So please, if we work together, Parvati and Jyoti will flourish in their education, allowing both to become career-driven citizens and support their parents in old age.
