Please Help ZC to fight autism, GDD, Sensory Processing Disorder to be normal child

I am from Singapore and I became a stay at home mum two years ago and started homeschooling both children when I knew ZCs severely brain injured and we have been carrying out the IAHP's home program for ZC. I have a 6 years old daughter and a 4 years old son. My daughter RT had poor articulations, hypothyroidism, and warded in NICU for 28 days for severely low birthweight, low blood glucose due to IUGR, low amniotic fluid. Her hypothyroidism condition is improving. My son ZC was on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder, coupled with Global Development Delay and now suspected of Sensory Processing Disorder.

Autism is a complex neurobehavioral condition that includes impairments in social interaction and developmental language and communication skills combined with rigid, repetitive behaviors. Because of the range of symptoms, this condition is now called autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It covers a large spectrum of symptoms, skills, and levels of impairment. ASD ranges in severity from a handicap that somewhat limits an otherwise normal life to a devastating disability that may require institutional care.

Children with autism have trouble communicating. They have trouble understanding what other people think and feel. This makes it very hard for them to express themselves either with words or through gestures, facial expressions, and touch.

A child with ASD who is very sensitive may be greatly troubled -- sometimes even pained -- by sounds, touches, smells, or sights that seem normal to others.

Global Developmental Delay (GDD) is the general term used to describe a condition that occurs during the developmental period of a child between birth and 18 years. It is usually defined by the child being diagnosed with having a lower intellectual functioning than what is perceived as ‘normal’. It is usually accompanied by having significant limitations in communication. It is said to affect about 1-3% of the population.

Sensory processing disorder is a condition in which the brain has trouble receiving and responding to information that comes in through the senses. ZC with sensory processing disorder are oversensitive to soft lullaby and music in his environment. Common sounds may be painful or overwhelming.

Currently, ZC is stable in health conditions but he is facing great delay in achieving his milestones. ZC was then non verbal and now he can speaks short sentence in the good days. He still whines, echoes, throwing tantrums anywhere, anytime. He doesn’t know what is dangerous and what is okay to place into his mouth. And he can’t even carry out a meaningful conversation with us. Although he initiates conversations with us when he needs something desperately.

I attended the What to Do to your Brain Injured Child course in 2016 and we started nutrition program. In end of July 2018, we were told that he didn’t had much progress and we need to find out his root cause of his symptoms, to help him in the shortest time. We are fighting with time. He is growing up, but he doesn’t get better in the way he should.

ZC needs to be undergoing his treatment with The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential in Philadelphia (IAHP), USA.

IAHP is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching and empowering parents in the development of their child. Their elite team of qualified and experienced staffs give parents the tools, knowledge, and coaching they need to help their child reach their full potential in life. Their mission is to help children with special needs achieve complete wellness. They educate parents about the Institute’s method with courses and lecture series, and provide personalized guidance to families during evaluation visits with the staff.

The Institutes is internationally known for its pioneering work in child brain development and for its programs to help brain-injured children achieve wellness and well children achieve excellence.

ZC is desperately needed for the evaluation trip in IAHP, along with the IAHP staffs. They uses The Institutes Developmental Profile™ measures the growth and development of the brain. This Profile allows staffs to evaluate a child and make an exact comparison between the hurt child and his well peers. This provides an accurate rate of growth for the child and establishes a baseline against which each child can be evaluated to determine his progress. Each time a child returns to The Institutes, a new Developmental Profile is done and a new program is created based upon that Profile.

After each child was carefully evaluated and a functional diagnosis was made, the staff designed an individual program that would provide the appropriate sensory stimulation and give the maximum motor opportunity to use the new information so gained.

This August 2018 is our third year into the programme, he is better but not well. We are desperately asking for your kindness, your gracefulness in helping Zhancheng to be able to go his evaluation visit in IAHP at Philadephia, USA from Singapore. As ZC did not go for the evaluation, we are trying to help him by trial and error. As, we did not know what is his rootcause to have above diagnosis.

During the last two years, we have spent all of our monies on helping Zhancheng to get better and well. And he does get better, but not well. We are hoping that your kindness will make a difference into his life, and our lives too. By helping us to make this trip happen, we will know his rootcause of his brain injury and be able to help him. He was non verbal, and was really not better nor well two years ago. He is 4 this year. And today, he is able to read, facilitate communication using the board, and able to follow instructions. But still, he doesn't speak and be like other children.

Zhancheng is a brilliant child, And we really really hope that your kindness, your light shines before us, and help us to help him to achieve wellness and excellency. The entire costs of the evaluation visit costs SGD$20,000.

This will be our very first trip for his evaluation and a new program will be created based upon his Profile. Thereafter, we are required to go there every 6 months for the Intensive Treatment Program.

We are desperately to get ZC out of his world and to have him be normal child.
