Daviana is a 20 year old student, studying physical education and living in Barinas, in the south west of Venezuela. Daviana loves to sing songs which help people feel the touch of her God. She looks after children and swims. We first met back in 2007 when I went to meet my mother's family for the very first time. I remember how joyous and full of life Daviana was and how she treated me so fondly and warmly, as if we had known each other for decades. Since then we have kept in touch as her beloved country has fallen into disarray. The story of Venezuela is sadly a familiar one. What it means for ordinary people is that things we, in the USA and Europe take for granted, are privileges. The basic drugs and care we would expect are now so expensive that only the rich can live. Our cousin, daughter and sister Daviana has a tumor between her lungs. Over the last two years her immediate family have spent every nickel they have on her treatment. Daviana's sister Beysay has moved to Argentina so she can earn money to help her. As her treatment has become more and more costly, their money decreases in value. Daviana has reached the stage where she must have an operation if she is to survive this. They have already paid for one operation but the tumour is wrapped around her heart so she will need heart surgery to remove it. If she graduates she wants to work in physical education and dreams of visiting Italy and learning Italian. Please donate anything you can so that Daviana can grow up to have the life she deserves, and so she can keep giving to others.
