I need your help. I hate being in this position where I have to ask for help but, on Friday, December 22, I had a minor stroke on the right side of my brain that affected the left side of my body from head to toe. I am writing this with my right hand with my Kindle. I put down a few letters and it guesses the words I am trying to type. Not the best method but it works for now to get my points across. I am a retired Air Force veteran and was working as freelancer doing transcription and ghostwriting to supplement my income. My only source of income now is my military retirement pay. When I woke up on Saturday, December 23 that all changed and was gone. My typing went from 50 plus words per minute to zero, since my left side is not functioning, as it should. My freelance work was finished. I can no longer do it. What I am doing now is just trying to recover. I can now walk with a cane but I am unable to control my left arm or hand as I used to and this makes working as I used to impossible. My wife is my helpmate and helps me bathe and dress every day. The rest of the family helps keeping their eyes on me and helping me move about the house. I am very fortunate to have such a loving and caring family. Unfortunately I have lost my ability to help in providing for my family. On top of everything that has happened the skin on the left side of my body has becomeleg very sensitive for instance my left leg doesn't register water as cold, it registers it as pain. So my purpose inmy life now is to recover as much of my old self as I can. I realize that it is going to take time but, like this description everything takes time. Any assistance you can give will be greatly appreciated. I was taught as a young man by my preacher father that it is the responsibility of a man to provide for his family I realize that such a belief sounds old and out dated, but at 70 plus years of age, maybe I am too, although I still feel much younger than my years. Now if I could just get rid of the constant headaches.
