Sky is an adorable Saluki/Whippet cross who’s had a terrible start in life.
She was found in the premises of RAK Animal Welfare Centre in the United Arab Emirates, having been thrown over the fence during the night. This was probably the most merciful thing her owners had ever done for her. Horribly emaciated, she was so weak she couldn’t get out of bed, yet it was clear she’d been used for breeding. As well as the obvious signs of neglect and abuse, she was also very ill with Erlichea, a tick-borne blood disease.
Under the care of the RAK Animal Welfare Centre veterinary team, her Erlichea was treated and she started to gain weight until she was in great condition – perhaps for the first time in her life.
A month in a foster home showed her to be well-behaved, friendly and good with both children and other dogs – the perfect pet.
Sky is one of the lucky ones; she has found a wonderful home in the USA where she’ll be treated like a princess along with her new canine siblings. Her new owners are so excited to get her – they’ve bought her a coat already and booked their flights to go to New York to get her and take her home. Someone has very kindly agreed to take Sky with them as excess baggage from Dubai to New York so it’s all falling into place for her.
We need your help to cover the costs of her flight, crate, paperwork and certificates. Please help us get this little darling to the home she deserves. Thank you.
