Please help Snowy, our beloved cat, have a fighting chance at living a normal life.

Hi, my family would like to ask for your help in raising funds for the vetting of our youngest cat, Snowy. Sadly vet bills here in the Philippines are expensive, much like in any other country I suppose, but we'd do anything for our pets which are like family to us. We named her Snowy because she was like a little ball of snow when she was a kitten and here's her story :(

Last Friday, January 7, 2022, she came home dirty and limping. We quickly examined her to see if she has wounds or anything but we found none, she was not bleeding or anything so we thought she just got into a small fight with another cat, as per usual with our other cats that likes to venture outside around the neighborhood. But the following day we noticed that she was not eating and would not come when called to eat, and can only move a few feet around where she was resting. So I decided to handfeed her which she accepted and placed a bowl of water mixed with dextrose powder that I have on hand that I occasionally use for when any of our pets seem lethargic, hoping she'd perk up and recover faster assuming that she was only exhausted from whatever ordeal she encountered.

Monday, January 10, 2022, she was no longer accepting food but was still drinking but she did not looked like she was getting any better and would pee where she laid because she can no longer stand, so we rushed her to the nearest vet. There they examined her for any wounds and found none, but her leg was hurting because every time we touched it she would cry. The vet said her leg was swollen and they injected her with antibiotics and was given take home medicines that we should give for 7 days.

Tuesday, January 11, 2022, She looked better and was again able to move a bit but she was still limping. I tried to give her her medicines and struggled but I somehow managed to. Afternoon that same day I noticed pus on her thigh and thought surely enough that she does indeed have a wound. I tried my best to clean the area with pus and put betadine iodine solution on it but because of her fur I was not able to fully see the extent of the wound and just hoped that the medicines would work in making her feel better.

But Wednesday, January 12, 2022, things began to take a turn for the worse. She was no longer accepting food, even if I force feed her, she would only gag and vomit. She was also no longer drinking, even if I give her water through a syringe. Another thing was her two hind legs were stretched and stiff which was very alarming! I texted the vet that we visited and told them about Snowy's condition and we were advised to take her to an Animal Hospital in the city because she needs to have an IV and X-ray to see if she has fractures.

We arrived at the hospital, they did the x-ray to check if she has fractures, but they saw none. On the initial examination they said it might be nerve damage that's causing her legs to go stiff, but we mentioned that she might have a wound on her thigh because of the pus on her thigh the day before. We were then told to wait as they examine her further.

The vet brought grave news after the examination :(

They shaved off the fur from her thighs to reveal a terrible wound that has started to fester causing the nerve damage thus making her legs stiff. The vet also said that it was going to be a long treatment because of the nerve damage and that there was a 50/50 chance of her not being able to walk again :( which was heartbreaking because she just turned 1 year old last October and for her to not be able to walk would be devastating. We were told that Snowy needed to stay at the hospital for observation so the vet can closely monitor her response to the treatment. So her stay there is still indefinite and we are hoping for better news tomorrow :(

I would also like to mention that all this happened at a bad time, where two of our family members are infected with covid thus exhausting our finances :( which is why we humbly ask for your help in funding Snowy's treatment. She might be just a cat for some, but to us she is our baby. And like I said earlier, we'd do anything for family.
