Hi, I am Tim Wickenden, an author living in Wales. I am fundraising for a wonderful Ukrainian family whose lives have been turned upside down by the war, and they need our help. Toya (left of picture) her mum, Nadia, and young sister, Kate, are now in a refugee camp in Germany. They need our help to start again, rent a home, find jobs - so please buy them a coffee. Once we hit the £6000 target it will give them enough to rent an apartment and find work.

Since the war began, I have been in contact with Toya. She is a courageous young woman and a talented author who has taken on the role of keeping her family together. As the war drew closer to her home she decided to leave and join her mother and sister in Germany. However, when she arrived the authorities refused to place her with her family! Yes, can you believe that? In the end, frustrated at the lack of support and empathy, she returned home - rather face the war than be treated like that

In the refugee camp her mother and sister are living in a large room with other families with just simple dividers between them. There is no privacy. Only hot water in the mornings. There is state aide but much of it requires them to find work to access it. If you do not speak German, that is hard and I'm willing to bet only the lowest paid jobs will be open to them. That is why they SO need our help. If we can hit our target they will have enough to get out of the camp and regain some control on their lives.

So, please give £5 or more. I am covering all transaction costs from my own pocket to ensure that every penny you donate goes to them. Money is sent direct to them via PayPal by me and I also cover PayPal transaction charges.

I will post regular updates as funds come in and we really appreciate your generosity in these times that are hard for many.

You can connect with Toya direct, on Twitter - @Toya_Danai where she posts about her life under this terrible war.

Thank you! ❤️
