Last 16 December 2021, our cousin Joule was brought to Capitol Medical Center (in Quezon City, Philippines) for a seemingly simple boil in his left leg that got infected. It turned out that the infection had already spread not only to his leg but to his kidneys, liver, and lungs. (He is diabetic.)

Because of this, the doctors had to perform a total of 8 surgeries on his left foot, up to part of his thigh above the knee. They were fortunately able to save the leg from being amputated.

Joule also had to undergo dialysis sessions to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood as his kidneys malfunctioned.

He is also being treated for gout and osteoarthritis.

Joule spent Christmas and New Year at the hospital, although he has now been transferred to a regular room from ICU since last week, and his wife Ginna was finally cleared to accompany him in the room.

His kidneys, lungs, and liver are improving, thank God. And good that his heart is spared from all this!

Currently, he is undergoing rehab to regain the use of his arms, fingers, legs, and feet, which have significantly deteriorated. He cannot turn to his side on his own, nor sit up without toppling over. It will be a long, painful, and difficult road ahead, but Joule is determined to get through this for the sake of his family.

We count every improvement as miracles from Above, but with a running hospital bill now hitting close to PHP2 million, we continue to pray for yet another miracle in the form of kind souls who can help our cousin defray his medical expenses.

Joule has company-sponsored health insurance, but its coverage has already been fully exhausted. Wife Ginna sought financial assistance from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), but was told they can only receive a maximum amount of PHP25,000. They have already withdrawn their life savings to pay for the mounting medical bills, but it is still not enough.

We hope you will find it in your hearts to help.

Thank you, and may the Lord richly bless you.
