My name is Britney Laird and On Wednesday, July 29, 2020, my mother, Stacey Rene Hartley of Baton Rouge, LA born on September 1&, 1966 passed away in her home at the age of 53. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She loved making people laugh and her close friends and family are going to miss her dearly. She had been sick and in pain for quite some time, due to double walking pneumonia she had 6 years ago. She went to the hospital and they ended up puncturing her lung and she was in a morphine induced coma for 2 months in ICU which we almost lost her then.. luckily, she pulled through thanks to God, but had a hole in her side that was supposed to heal from the inside out. It didn't, it healed from the outside in leaving a hole she had to pack for the rest of her life. She couldn't lay back in the tub, wash her hair, swim, bowl or do a lot of things after that. She ended up on full disability and qas miserable and always on pain from then until she passed so there is peace of mind knowing she is no longer in pain and will be happily watching over us. Even though I know she isn't in pain anymore, It was very unexpected and I’m still in complete shock . But luckily I have had a lot of prayers, love and support from my fiancé , 3 children, family, friends and church to help me get through this very hard time. I was my mother’s only child who gave her 3 amazing grandchildren. As much as I regret that we weren’t as close as I would’ve liked us to be and lord knows if I could change that now I would. But I know I can’t and regardless of our weird relationship I know she loved me and her grandkids unconditionally and was very proud and she knows that I loved her very much. I am so thankful for all the wonderful memories I have of me and her throughout the years and for the time she got to enjoy her grandchildren. I only wish she could be here to see me get married in October but I guess God needed her. As her only child I am responsible for her and her memorial. She wanted to be cremated so it was easier on me. So I am abiding by her wishes and doing so. So now not only am I planning my first wedding that my mother won't be here for but I’m also having to plan a cremation and a small memorial service for my mom. she had no life insurance policy and it is going to cost me to pay for her cremation and I would like to get a decent urn for her to come home with me in. So anyone who would like to help contribute to that it would greatly be appreciated and any little but helps. Even just prayers! Thank you so much in advance! Please keep my children, nana, family and myself in your prayers during this unexpected and heartbreaking time. Thanks for any and all help and prayers
