Please Help our Papa Eric

We hope everyone is safe and healthy.

My siblings and I know very little about online fundraisers, but we decided to be brave and start this for our father Joseph Eric Madulid, who fought for his life against Covid 19.

On March 24th, our father, my 2 siblings and I all tested positive for Covid-19 (only my mother was spared in my family). My father and I were diagnosed with pneumonia and were prescribed antibiotics. At first we tried to fight it at home. However, my father's condition rapidly worsened. He started having difficulties breathing despite being hooked up to an oxygen tank. He also tried eating to gain strength, but could not hold down the food. It was very painful for us to see him suffering but because of the current situation of hospitals in the Philippines during the surge of Covid cases, we could not find one that would take him in. After 3 days of struggling, on the 27th, we were finally able to rush my nearly delirious father to the ER. However, according to the doctor, his condition was already severe - he had sepsis and his body was being poisoned; any later and they probably would not have been able to save him. Several of his organs were also affected by complications brought by the virus, most specifically his kidneys. He had to undergo daily Hemodialysis to try and save his kidneys.

It was devastating, however, that despite all efforts to save his life, the complications brought by Covid took such a heavy toll on his body and he passed away on the afternoon of April 8th.

Despite help from the government and help from immediate and extended family, we have been left with a staggering bill.

We are appealing to everyone's kind and generous hearts to help us raise funds for my father's hospital bills as we do not have the financial capability to pay for it. My brother and I are currently on leave from work while recovering from Covid. At the moment, our family is relying on our last salary before we went on leave and the assistance from our aunt to get us through.

We would be grateful for any amount you can extend to help us pay for the hospital bills left by my father's passing.
