My wife and I are launching our business after many years of unemployment, sporadic employment and odd jobs.

My wife is aboriginal and is the only child in her family of four with bad teeth. It's heartbreaking for me to watch her suffer, especially since she's also a singer-songwriter who plays guitar and sings her own music. She gets offers to perform but she won't take them because the caps her parents put on her as a child have come off. She is also extremely afraid of a dentist from bad experiences and she watched me go through utter turmoil and pain getting most of my teeth removed.

Today, her teeth have gotten very bad. She will need two or four Wisdom teeth removed. There is a dentistry asleep dentist "Dr. Dan" in Yorkville in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He does all the work, extractions and the eight caps she needs (4 upper and 4 lower) while she is unaware of what is going on. It's the best way but it's also more expensive, around $10,000.00 CAD for the whole job.

We keep getting rounds of antibiotics to keep the pain and infection down but it is stressful.

We are quite a story. We both met shortly before becoming homeless 20 years ago. We survived on the streets together and then finally got off the streets and we are still together today.

I would gladly go all through the horrible dental pain if I could, and I Would. My heart is breaking over this and she has pretty much stopped her music. She does play for change from time to time and when she does, she get's many comments to keep doing her music. Her music is like a cross between Madonna and Jewel and Courtenay Love.

Our business is all about local marketing for local shops, artists and organizations. We've worked on dozens of small You Tube video contracts. We also now launch ECommerce sites as Shopify Partners. We love Shopify and have been customers and partners of theirs for over three years now.

The biggest part of our business is QR Codes. We make Commerce QR Codes that when scanned allow locals on the streets to buy with one simple scan of a products QR Code. We have also designed TLC or Totally Local Classifieds which look like bulletin boards and can be posted around the neighbourhood and carry all kinds of sizes of local ads. We expect to take our QR Code Shops, TLC and our digital out of home ad network neighbourhood to neighbourhood. Experts, major marketplaces and companies are starting to take notice. After all, we are the very first independent QR Code Shops in Toronto, if not Canada.

I too am missing teeth. While we were sleepoing homeless in a park, next to a church downtown, someone smashed me in the mouth with a nurf football size piece of rebar and concrete. It shattered all my teeth in the backs, like breaking pieces of cheese. The force also knocked two top front teeth right out! To this day, some 20 plus years later I still suddenly "Twitch" like I've been hit again in the head. So, this is why I needed my teeth taken out. I did get welfare paid dentures that are terrible, too long and an odd colour. So I can't wear them. It's really tough but we still consider ourselves very lucky people to be here.

This is not about me, it's about Leona. Thank You for reading her story.
