Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Please take the time to read through and help me raise the much needed amount for my mother's Spinal Decompression and Stabilization Surgery. She has Osseous Metastasis since she had been a known Breast Cancer 'fighter' since March of last year. I seek your help as I had run out of options to find assistance. Relatives and friends have and continues to send us assistance. However, the needed amount for the implants prove to be too much for any resources that we can come up with at this time.

My mother had been a widow for 16 years. I am a single parent of 4 and an only child. I work as a Technical Support Representative for an Irish TV-Telco Company who outsources their Customer and Technical Support in the Philippines. However, even 1 year's worth of my salary is not enough to cover the cost of the implants and the surgery that my Mother badly needs.

My mother, Theresita Eleanor Claros - Mendoza had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer Stage 3 on March, 2017. She had a Radical Mastectomy on her Left Breast and had been on an Anti-Hormone therapy (Anastrozole) since then. However, on November 27, 2018 a tumor had been found growing on her spine (L2) via an MRI done; after she collapsed to the floor, unable to support her own weight. She had been confined at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERMMMC) for 2 weeks until she was transferred directly to the East Avenue Medical Center (12 days), due to monetary constraints. She is now paralyzed from the waist down and is in constant pain.
She had an Incisional Biopsy done at the East Avenue Medical Center on December 12, 2018. Gene Expert specimen was sent to the National Kidney institute and Biopsy was sent to the Philippine General Hospital. Gene Expert tests proved negative for Tuberculosis of the Bone while Biopsy confirmed Metastatic Carcinoma, consistent with Breast Primary; making her a Cancer fighter at Stage 4. She is recommended for further Immunohistochemistry studies with Mammaglobin by the Pathologist, Dr. Vergel De Dios of the Philippine General Hospital.
With the tumor steadily and rapidly growing on her spine (L2), it hurts to see her paralyzed and in so much pain. According to the MRI taken of her on November 27, 2018, her spine had already been degraded by the cancer. Per the Orthopedic Surgeon (Dr. Gian Carlo Europa), Internist (Dr. Disreali Europa) as well as her Oncologists (Dr. Amparo and Dra. Catalan), my Mother needs to have a Spinal Decompression and Stabilization Surgery. With this done, she would not be in pain constantly anymore and would be able to sit up on a wheelchair. Our family had been given 2 months to raise the much needed amount for the implants as she would be deemed in-operable after 3 months; from December, 2018 to early March 2019. Hence our urgency in raising the much needed amount.

Even with her battle going on she still dreams and hopes to continue reaching out to others. She hopes to be able to continue with her cancer treatments and therapy as she continue to fight the 'Big C'. She wishes to see her grand daughters graduate from College as she continues her work with Evangelization, Charity and Praising God as a devout Catholic.

The costly implants that she badly needs for her Spinal Decompression Surgery are:

  1. 8-10 Pedicle Screws
  2. Wire Mesh Cage

According to the Orthopedic Surgeon (Dr. Gian Carlo Europa of UERMMMC and East Avenue Medical Center), the surgical procedure would cost another Php 200,000. Per the quotation that the Medical Supplier had provided for the implants needed, these would cost a total of Php 200,000.
All in all we would need to save up to Php 400,000 to give my Mother another chance.

As you can see, this is too much for the whole family as all our resources had already been depleted with all the hospitalizations, medications and tests. To add to the amount, we need to raise the amount needed within 3 months.
I knock on the door of your generous hearts to please help us raise the amount for the implants as well as for the surgical procedure to be done within the next couple of months. Time is ticking for my mother and it pains me to see her suffer everyday. She had given me everything in life; now, I can't provide her with what she badly needs. This breaks my heart into a million pieces every day as I see her suffer with the pain and slowly succumb to depression. The pain killers help but it could also take a toll on her ageing Liver and Kidneys (which at this time already has Bi-lateral Renal Cysts).
She had raised me to be the one who gives to others but I am now in a position where I know and feel that I have to seek the help of others. Please pardon my impertinence as I am not used to asking for help but now the tides have turned and instead of giving to others, I am now the one in need. I am in need of financial assistance to be able to give what my dear Mother needs.
Every bit of help goes a long way and would be highly appreciated. Please help us raise the amount needed to fund the implants as well as the surgical procedure that she so badly needs to have a new lease on life and to continue to fight her battle with the 'Big C'. Please help us so that she can still continue with her Catholic Evangelization and Charity work. Please help us so that she would still be able to see her grand daughters graduate from College.

God bless you, always and may all your needs be met by his graces!

Sincerely yours,

Elaine C. Mendoza
