Please help my mom with a roof for her home.

My mother was diagnosed with Lewy Body Disease earlier this year. It is a type of dementia that has characteristics of both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. It has been a long hard year with doctor's visits, lab test, hospital visits just trying to find out what was wrong with her.

I am glad she is doing better but its has become increasingly harder to take care of her medical bills and to ensure she has all her medication in all of this because she is also being treated for high blood pressure.This being said I have completely depleted all my savings and resources that I had saved just to ensure that she as some form of a quality life. She has some insurance which helps with the costs but this is Jamaica after all and one of her medication costs $25000.00 Jamaican (about US$250) which she has not yet received since June.

My mother is a fighter and hates not having control and it hurts me to see how this disease has impacted her. My youngest brother has become her full time care giver as I am not in a position to hire one and I help out with ensuring the bills are paid and that food is there at all times. She cannot stay with me because her doctor thinks it best for her to be in an environment that she is familiar with having living there for 37 years. One of her biggest concern is the roof at my childhood home. It is in a really bad shape. It was badly damaged during Hurricane Ivan and although I did start repairs on fixing it, it didn't get very far. Even with the near brush from Hurricane Matthew the other day, she just asks, Nicole will there be a roof when I get home. What could I tell her? Thank God it didnt come our way because that would have surely been the end of it.

It pains my heart when it rains, because there are buckets and blankets every where. This is one of the hardest things I have had to do in asking for help from complete strangers. With or without your help i will still press on so that my mother can be safe and secure in a house that is home.

1. She was 66 years this October 21, 2016. I would really like to give her this gift of starting to rebuild her roof because I know it would give her some peace.
