Michael Miranda Sr., whom we fondly refer to as 'Tatay Mike', is just like most Filipino grandfathers who enjoys his time at home by watching television, cooking for our household, and bonding with his grandson, Yuri. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic happened, he also became of one the most susceptible to the virus like the rest of the elderly people.
Despite this, throughout the course of the pandemic, Tatay Mike continued to be the loving husband, father, and grandfather that he has always been to his family. That is why it broke our hearts to find out that he was COVID-19 positive when he was brought to the hospital for chronic cough this March 2021.
Due to his age, Tatay Mike's condition was classified as severe, which was made worse by his pneumonia infection. Last March 28, we decided to have him intubated to aid him in his breathing which has become extremely difficult for him, and he was also transferred to World Citi Medical Center's intensive care unit (ICU) so that he can be strictly monitored by healthcare personnel.
Currently, Tatay Mike is already negative from COVID-19, but a lung infection caused by the virus is preventing him from breathing normally which means he needs to remain intubated and cared for in the ICU. This, along with the fact that he has been hospitalized for almost a month already, meant that our running hospital bill has already amounted to over P1 million.
We know what a tough and challenging time this is for everyone. In a lot of ways, we are still blessed compared to those who are struggling to put food on their tables, but even with the collective help from our families, we have to admit that all of it isn't enough to cover our current expenses from Tatay Mike's hospitalization and his subsequent medical needs for when he finally gets to come home to us.
This is why we are kindly asking for any amount that could help us sustain the medical assistance from the hospital that Tatay Mike badly needs. We hope you can find it in your heart to help us have more moments to share with him by donating how little or big you have to spare.
Thank you so much and we pray for your safety and good health.
