Today, my best friend will be undergoing a risky surgery to remove a huge lump that has been compressing her internal organs. Due to unforseen circumstances, she is in need of a blood transfusion which has increase the surgical fee to (an estimated of above $3000 including her compulsory stay at the pet hospital and payments for the donor’s transfusion). She means the WHOLE WORLD to my family and I, so i want to do everything in my power to ensure that it will go as smoothly as possible. Even the smallest amount will mean a great deal to us. I believe she’s a FIGHTER and i appreciate ALL the support be it donations, supportive words, or simply just sharing this post.
The context in full below.
We’ve been battling this lump since mid May of 2018 and we are running out of our own funds and resources and it would mean the world to us if you would like to donate or even spreading the word. Thank you so much.
The lump problem started in mid-May when we noticed a small 20 cent coin sized lump. After having it checked, we realized it was a harmless fatty tumor. However it grew rapidly in size and we were visiting the vet on a weekly basis ever since. The doctors then recommended her for a incisional biopsy. The results showed inflammation and hemorrhage inside the lump and Beco was put on antibiotics. However that did not stop it from growing even bigger. It now compresses her internal organs- to the point that drainage from her left leg is cut off, causing it to swell up. She would stand for hours because it was painful for her to walk, lay or sit down or rest. The continuous blood loss also made her anemic - she ate less and was always tired.
The vet decided that the surgery has to be done ASAP. On the day of the supposed surgery, after draining blood from her lung, to allow her breathing to improve, they found her to continue panting. Upon further investigation, they found out that she has advanced lung cancer so her operation was postponed as they weren't prepared to operate on a dog with breathing difficulties (Going under GA requires her lungs to be strong, however her lungs have to fight twice as hard to get enough oxygen). Although the surgery was ceased, the entire procedure was still very costly.
After contemplation, we decided to tackle the immediate problem - to find out the cause of the bleed and to stop it. Although she has to tackle the cancer later on, we just want to alleviate her suffering at this point.
Words really can not explain how much she means to us and how much it hurts to see her deteriorate and suffer but it is even more painful to realize we might not be able to afford her treatments when she still has a chance to fight. Your support in any form means a lot and it helps us be stronger so that we are able to fight alongside her. So thank you very very much.
All payments made from the funds raised for her will be uploaded here. We will also continue to post updates about her surgery.
